This update on the popular Timp features softer cushioning, improved heel fit, a more flexible midsole and a directional-mesh upper with improved flex. This shoe is an excellent middle of the road option from Altra with more cushioning than the Lone Peaks, but less than the Olympus. Also new this year is the 4-Point Gaiter Trap to get gaiters snugly on and rocks out of the shoe. The DuraTread outsole rubber has also been made sticker to give better grip on everything from the gravelly trails in the Tungsten Hills to slabs of Sierra granite up high. If you’re looking for the right shoe for long trail days in the Sierra’s, this shoe will carry you over the rocky trails and leave you feeling fresh at the end of the day.
