As with previous generations, the high-traction Vibram Megagrip outsole features deep 5mm lugs for the best grip on rocks, mud, and loose terrain. The new features of the Speedgoat 4s include an updated mesh that enhances breathability and specially engineered reinforcements in the upper and lace eyes to increase stability and lock in your fit. The Speedgoat 5 have become my go to for all my training and trail ultras. I love the overall feel and excellent traction. I experienced some extremely wet and muddy conditions on a race and was pleased on how they reacted and dried out quickly. United StatesWore hokas 5+ years ago and didn't like them. Decided to give them a 2nd chance and am so glad I did. These shoes have done all I've asked of them—handle miles on the trail well and provide enough traction for peak scrambles. Uppers have held up surprisingly well.
