The ULA Catalyst is among our favorite packs for pretty much any backcountry adventure. That's because this pack is light enough to fly down the trail with an ultralight kit inside, and also supportive enough to handle bigger loads when we decide to bring along the bear can, pack-raft, camera, fishing rod, or rope. The twin-stay internal frame, contoured shoulder straps, and super-comfy padded hipbelt support loads up to 40 lbs. If you're looking for a pack to handle everything the High Sierra can throw at it, the ULA Catalyst is the one. This has been one of our most popular packs for the PCT.
Note that due to the dimensions of this pack we cannot offer free shipping.

Choosing A Shoulder Strap Style:
J straps are traditional and work best on men and women with average builds. If you are very large in the upper body you might need XL shoulder straps. Men with athletic builds who have strong square shoulders will find the S straps work better. If you are a climber, weight lifter, triathlete or similar, consider purchasing the S strap.
Measuring Your Torso
Length: Torso measurement is the best guide for proper pack fit. If you are between sizes on the torso choose the smaller size. Conversely, if you are between sizes on the hip belt, choose the larger size. Follow these steps to accurately measure your torso. Stand upright and tilt your chin to your chest. Locate the largest lump on the back of your neck located close to the base of your neck. Make sure your pants or short are sitting just above the top of your hipbone. From the large bone at your neck, measure the length and natural curvature of your spine to the top of your waistband. This is your torso length
